FLAMENCO UNDER THE STARS

ANTONIO VARGAS, world renowned Flamenco dancer and choreographer, known to
critics in his role as the gypsy father in " Strictly Ballroom" as " an
aggressive, beautiful, sexually compelling god of dance" presents an
evening of Spanish Dance and Flamenco under the Stars, an unforgettable
evening of spectacular entertainment in the open sky park of Vivocity
where elegance and grace is juxtaposed against the fire and vibrancy of
Flamenco and Spanish rhythms and music.
The evening opens with the company dancers of Flamenco Sin Fronteras
interpreting well- known classics in Flamenco style. The highlight of the
first half is " Jugada de el Toro " or " The Play of the Bull" an original
choreographic presentation that describes the mysticism and fatality
between man and beast in the tradition of bullfight, where" seldom has
brutality and grace been juxtaposed so eloquently on the same stage".
The second half showcases the kaleidoscope of colors and emotions of the
Flamenco repertoire. Charismatic flamenco artistes from Spain, guitarist
Jorge Padilla and singer Antonio Soria provide the musical background,
from the enchanting oriental tunes to the vibrant flamenco rhythms of
today; while flamenco dancers bring to life the essence of Flamenco,
exuding passion, grace and fire. Joining the stellar line up is flamenco
dancer and singer La Conja described by critics as "a mesmerizing singer
and a demon dancer", which promises to draw audiences into an
unforgettable journey right to the heart of Flamenco.
